Phoenix Marathon Where & When
- Location: Mesa, AZ 85201
- Race Date: 2018/02/24 06:30:00 AM (Saturday)
This was a very well run half marathon. The fireworks at the starting line were a fun surprize. This was my first time running a half marathon in Phoenix, so I expected it to be hot and dry. To my surprise we had a fair bit of rain at the start, and the air smelled so clean. The race has one of the best finishes anywhere, and the volunteers were amazing. This was a fun experience that is well worth doing again.

Perfect choice for a first marathon or for any runner wanting to qualify for Boston or earn a PB. The location and course were awesome. The first half displayed our famous desert scenery in all its splendor. During the 2nd half folks were out on their balconies cheering us on along with all the cheerers along the course. So many people came out to ring the cowbells and motivate the runners! Losing elevation was a definite plus and it's the best time of year here for running weather.

Love the first half of the course through the mountains at sunrise. The wind got to me in the second half, but still managed to qualify for Boston! I'll be back next year for another great run.

Overall, a great race. Incredible support from local organizations, and tons of folks come out. The marathon course gets a little quiet sometimes, but the aid stations every other mile make up for it! My only complaint is about the full marathon pace team this year who were way too early and way too fast out of the gate. Hopefully better expectations will be set for the pace team in the future, but otherwise, I'll be back for sure to work on my copper star!

Everything went very smooth, staff was fantastic and always very helpful. Course is great and starts on an easy downhill section great for warming up. Highly recommend this one!!

man! the atmosphere and receiving a strong energy from surrounding nature boost my confidence level so high that I started a little bit too fast and hit the wall at 20mi. recollecting was positively sure I did everything right by the book training, resting diet, and intake preparation. I'm Native American just turned 54 back in January and running my fifth marathon, really wanted to qualify in in this age group, not to wait for the next group next year, just because I know can.

The Phoenix Marathon is by far one of, if not the best managed race I have ever run. Everything was well organized, the shirts are by far the best (no sponsors on back & women got tank tops this year!) The expo & the finish line area was amazing. Course was a good, mostly downhill run. Not the most scenic, but definitely a fast course. Will be running the next 5 years for the Phoenix 5.
This was my first marathon and I keep coming back for more! Love the course and the people who volunteer to help!!!

I really enjoyed the race. The course was well laid out. The weather was great on race day. The only fix for next year is the number of porta potties at the start. Many of us were barely getting to the start as the race started and there were still people waiting for that last stop at the porta potties.

Had fun at the race
