Out of The Darkness 5k
Run-Walk
Date: May 20th, 2017
Time: 8:00 AM
The first 50 people that register by May 10th will be entered for a drawing to win a Runner's Basket. The winner will be announced at the race.
The course will begin at the McParc adjacent to the parking lot located at the top heading to the Meredith Tunnel. This is an out-and-back course.
Registration:
$20 until May 1st
$25 May 1st - Race Day (Online registration will close on May 18th)
$15 registration for kids under 10
Packet pick up/Race Day Registration begins at 6:30 and ends at 7:30
No Refunds or Transfers
T-shirts are guaranteed for participants that register by May 1st.
Awards:
Top 3 Male, Top 3 Female
First Place Medals in each age Category - 1-10,11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Directions to the park - take exit 139 off Interstate 79 and follow directions to the park.
Parking:
Trail Parking available adjacent to the trail. Over flow parking available at the Visitor center.
Restrooms:
Restrooms are located in the building next to the Visitor Center near the bottom parking lot.
Proceeds from this event will go to Out of the Darkness Walk held in Washington DC on June 17th, 2017

The race was for a good cause, suicide prevention. The 5K trail course is paved, flat, and shaded. Easy parking. Very low sign up fee, nice shirts and fruit, cold water, and chocolate milk at the end. Nice medals for the extremely fast winners. I would race this again.

So well organized--race well marked, great post-race tent with drinks/snacks. Great race, I'd highly recommend!
