Orphan Love Mud Run

Overview  

It's A Child's Life Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is proud to present this 7th annual event in Ada, OK. We have been honored to divide almost $100,000 amongst 39 families and 6 non-profits over the past 6 years. Our sponsors have been generously supporting our cause—to bring orphans home to their forever families. Our runners are willing to push themselves in order to complete forever families. Our volunteers are ready to serve the adopting families and runners to help put on our best event, yet. All profits go toward helping children in need and bringing awareness of the orphan crisis at home and worldwide. 80% of profits are divided amongst our adopting families (up to $2,500 per family), 10% will be divided between a local, state, and national/international non-profit who fights for vulnerable children, and 10% of profits are used for local children's needs and future It's A Child's Life events. ALL FINISHERS WILL RECEIVE A HANDSOME, SUPER SOFT EVENT SHIRT AND A CUSTOM 2.5IN. FINISHER MEDAL.

Course Description  

5k-ish run on Pontotoc Tech Center school grounds, trails, and mud... OH MY! Not to mention 20+ obstacles to make your morning run memorably challenging yet delightfully fun for the family (ages 13 and up).  We took feedback and are currently doubling several obstacles to prevent bottlenecks.

1K kids' fun run will have a healthy helping of running with age appropriate obstacles for ages 4-12 years old

Strategy

Packet pickup will be September 21st and race day.  Time and place will be announced ASAP.

Tentative Event Day Agenda:
7am Registration and Packet Pick up starts
8am Introduction, Prayer, and Introduction of Adopting Families 
8:30 First kids race starts
9:00 Individual competitive heat starts
9:15 2 person Team competitive heat starts
9:30 First non-competitive heat starts (each heat has an assigned time; please check in 30 minutes early before heat starts)

Both kids' 1K run and 5K will be organized in assigned start times (waves). The kids' will run first and the 5K (competitive, competitive team, and open races) will follow. Each timed wave will allow 40 participants to enter the course at a time every 15 minutes. 

Spectator Tips

We love our spectators! Please, bring a folding chair to get comfy. Again, no animals are allowed on the course. We will have food and drink for purchase in the commons area.

Miscellaneous Information

Group Awards

We are offering a “Biggest Presence” Award for the biggest registered runner team. Each team must have a designated group name and leader. The group leader must email Cari at support@itsachildslife.org to be a recognized group. The hardware for last few years has been a 4ft tall trophy... can't wait to see what this year will bring!

Running with Purpose Award: Adopting family with the most recruited runners receives an extra $150 towards their adoption expenses.

(A runner may be counted in either Biggest Presence Award or Running with Purpose Award, but NOT both. Runners may declare their “team" or “family" at runner packet pick up OR registration on the event date.)
