Mississippi Mud Run Race Description

Join us on September 16, 2016, on St. Feriole Island for the seventh annual Mississippi Mud Run! Proceeds from this event will help fund the following programs:  PALS Mentoring Program, PDC Park & Rec Department, and the Crawford County Humane Officer Program.

Mississippi Mud Run Information:

The Mississippi Mud Run consists of approximately four miles of Mississippi River Valley terrain and various natural and man-made obstacles. Participants will be in and out of Mississippi River Mud, through at least one memorable backwater slough, over and under brush, trees, and logs, and through the floodplain trail. Man-made obstacles will include whatever we can dream up, but you can expect things built from logs, large and huge tires, rope, round bales, concrete culverts, flatbed trailer(s), and salvaged vehicles. This run offers a challenge to warrior folk and tough guys and gals looking to put themselves to the test or beat their friends to the finish. It’s also completely cool if you’re not so much with the competition and just want to have some fun at a more leisurely pace. Teams and costumes are encouraged!

When and Where: This year's event will be held on September 16th on St. Feriole Island, located in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Race day registration will open at 7:00 a.m. The 1-mile Kids' Race will start at 8:30 a.m. The Full Course will start at 9:30 a.m. Please read the Mississippi Mud Run Rules, and if you have questions take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions list, or post a question on our Facebook page. Don't forget to have a look at the Google Map of the course!

Registration Cost: The cost to register will be $45 through August 31. Beginning September 1st the price will be $55.  To guarantee a T- shirt on the day of the event, registrations must be made before September 1st.

Kids' Race Details: Kids' Race is for children age 11 or under. The cost to register for the Kids' Race is $15. The Kids' Race is approximately a 1-mile section of the Full Course and then loops back to the starting line. It will include mud and some fun and challenging obstacles. Parents are encouraged to accompany their kids on the course. Parents do not need to pay extra or be participating in the Full Course in order to run the short course with their children. Kids' Race prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place for boys and girls. Prizes for the Kids' Race will be awarded immediately upon completion of all participants.

Kids on the Full Course: Kids of any age can register for and run the Full Course race. It is recommended that any kid, under the age of 11, have a parent or guardian accompany them throughout the race. The parent or guardian must also be a paying participant in theFull Course race. Anyone under the age of 18 on race day will need a parent or legal guardian to sign his or her participant wavier.

Participants with Intellectual Disabilities: The Mississippi Mud Run is excited to offer a division for people with intellectual disabilities. The entry fee for participants with an intellectual disability is $25. The participant can choose to run either the Full or Short Course and may bring an assistant to run with them. There is no registration fee for assistants, but they must sign a waiver; event t-shirts will be available to them for $8 if they register before the shirt deadline of September 1st.  Contact Race Director Lorie Floyd at 608-412-2974 for questions or to register.

Teams: All participants need to register individually.  If you are part of a team, please make sure all team members register and place the same Team Name in the Team Name box on the registration form. If racing as an individual, the Team Name box should be left blank. Please note, if you are part of a team, the time of the last team member to cross the finish line will be recorded as the team's finish time.
