Lucky Leprechaun 5K, 10K and 1 mile Run Race Description

Join us on Saturday, March 16, 2019 for the 6th annual YMCA of Frederick County's Lucky Leprechaun 5k, 10k and 1 Mile Little Leprechaun Run.

This 5K/10K route begins in the Urbana District Park and works its way through the Villages of Urbana neighborhood and its paths.

The Lucky Leprechaun is a festive, family oriented event for all ages. 5k/10k participants are welcome to use strollers as well as walk the 1 mile course. It is highly encouraged for everyone to costume-up! Strollers are welcome but will be asked to begin toward the back of the racing pack for safety.  Pets are welcome and will be asked to begin toward the back of the pack as well.

The Little Leprechaun  Fun Run begins at 9:30 am and is a 1 mile out and back run complete with finisher medals for the racers and a Y cinch sack!  It is not a timed event with no awards. All participants must register to include any family members or friends who plan to help their racer along the way.  Strollers are welcome but will be asked to begin toward the back of the racing pack for safety.  Pets are welcome and will be asked to begin toward the back of the pack as well.

The 5k and 10K will begin at the same time.  Racers will receive a custom medal.  You will also be treated to oranges and bananas, water, hot chocolate and chicken noodle soup!

NEW THIS YEAR! Many tell us that they have enough race t-shirts so this year we are offering participants the choice of selecting to receive a high performance race towel or the opportunity to donate $10 to the Green Valley Y's annual campaign to raise money to provide financial assistance to community members in need of help with child care fees, to help send a child to camp who otherwise would not be afforded such an opportunity, to provide reduced membership rates to those who otherwise would not be able to afford to participate such as seniors on fixed incomes and more.  The Y assists over 30 other non-profits in Frederick County to serve our community.  This race helps us make it possible for us to give so much to others.

Awards will be given to the top three finishers in the male and female categories as well as the top three finishers in each age group. We will also have fun door prizes!

Age groups will be as follows: 12-under, 13-18, 19-25, 26-35, 36-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-up.

Help us keep the lines down on race day and make arrangements to pick up your race packet in advance at Barely and Hops Restaurant at 5473 Urbana Pike Frederick Md 21704. Enjoy dinner with family or friends and pick up your info! There will also be very limited packet pick up on race day, Saturday, March 16th from 7:30-9:00am
