The Kolkata Police Safe Drive Save Life Half Marathon was launched in 2018 with the objective of spreading the message of Safe Drive Save Life across the city and beyond it.

Running was chosen as the medium to promote the message of Safe Drive Save Life since running is, today, the fastest growing sports and the most popular mass participation activity in the country. This event was an addition to the sporting culture of Kolkata.
