Coosa River Challenge XXIII Race Description
With four to six hours of trail running, mountain biking, river paddling and a few challenging features throughout, this is the perfect race for beginners looking to explore a new sport, or seasoned racers looking for a real challenge. A compass is required, but with simple navigation, the Coosa River Challenge is a race that is fun for everyone.
Kayaks, paddles, and PFDs are available for rental as part of the total registration fee, or racers may bring their own. Racers must supply their own bicycles.
We expect the top teams to finish in about four hours with the majority of racers to have finished in six hours. The route incorporates the amazing trails at Swayback Bridge, the last of the whitewater of Alabama's major river systems, and finishes at the Coosa River Adventures in historic downtown Wetumpka.
This year we will have prizes for the 1st place teams in each category:
Teams:
- Co-Ed: $500
- All-Fale: $500
- All-Male: $500
Solos:
- Female: $250

The Friday meeting and dinner, the pre-race meeting, and the finish line are located at Coosa River Adventures Wetumpka where spectators can easily watch the initial and final stages of the race.

I loved what I saw as a volunteer and hope to participate next year. I will be 62 years old. I hope to see you include a 60 plus bracket as I saw a few participate in our age group. Thank you Mike, Chris, Theresa, Andrew and all the volunteers that organized and kept people safe on the trail.
