Carrie Shoemaker Memorial 5K Race Description

The Carrie Shoemaker Memorial 5k is an event organized by Duke NROTC which benefits Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Held annually, the race serves to honor Ensign Carrie Shoemaker, a Duke NROTC alumna who was struck and killed by a drunk driver. Through raising awareness of drunk driving and promoting safe drinking habits, we hope to further MADD's goal of eliminating drunk driving.

Carrie Shoemaker Memorial 5K, Duke University

Over the years, I have run my fair share of running races. Some local, in other States, on the West Coast, and overseas. Running the Carrie Shoemaker Memorial 5K, was an absolute thrill and honor. Very down to Earth, personal, and uplifting. The event reminder of why I started to run races. Superb event. Hooyah!
