Star Ranch 5K Events

Come run one of the most unique and fun 5K races in Texas! Star Ranch proudly hosts two annual 5K events that combine fitness, freedom, and a full day of fun in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

The Bare Buns Run 5K Fun Run has been held every spring at Star Ranch since 1997 and is a long-standing favorite among runners throughout the region. Due to its continued popularity, Star Ranch added a second annual event — the Chilly Cheeks 5K Run — held each fall. Both races are official qualifiers for the AANR-SW 5K Series.

Participation is limited to 200 runners per race to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Course Description

The Star Ranch 5K course is located in scenic McDade, Texas, approximately 30 minutes east of Austin on US Highway 290.

The race begins with a peaceful rural run through open pastures and shaded woodland trails for approximately three kilometers. Runners then enter the developed portion of the ranch, where the final two kilometers follow sand and gravel paths connecting member-owned cottages and cabins.

The race finishes at the Star Ranch pool, where runners can relax, cool off, and enjoy a light meal off the grill while awaiting race results.
