4th Annual Marching Chiefs 5K

Created in 2017 to honor the past, present, and future Marching Chiefs that proudly carry the legacy of Florida State throughout their lives, the 4th Annual Marching Chiefs 5K promises to be more outstanding than the last. The 2020 Marching Chiefs 5K will take place on November 15th, 2020.

Run, walk or march across Florida State University's iconic campus! The route showcases Florida State's most recognizable locations, from Doak Campbell Stadium to Westcott Fountain. The race will kick-off with an exciting live performance by the Marching Chiefs, followed by various pep-bands scattered throughout the race to perform for the participants as they pass by!

Everyone, regardless of age or ability, is invited to participate in this multifaceted event!

What precautions are being taken in response to COVID-19?

The Marching Chiefs 5K committee is dedicated to the safety and well-being of all involved in our race. The 5K committee is operating according to university health and safety guidelines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. To prevent the spread of the virus, all volunteers, excluding pep-band members, will wear face coverings. Gloves will be used when volunteers interact with racers, and hand sanitizing stations will be placed around high-contact areas such as the start/finish area and registration. To encourage social distancing, the race will be separated into waves in order to increase space between runners and to avoid bottle-necking.



In the event that COVID-19 concerns increase as the race approaches, we will offer three options to in-person racers:

1.) Full refunds will be allowed for the cost of registration until September 27th at 11:59 pm.

2.) The opportunity to pick up all race materials in Tallahassee at a scheduled date.

3.) All racers have the opportunity to shift to a virtual-race package. The virtual race package allows you to experience the in-person race from the comfort of your own home. This year's virtual race experience will be enhanced by a live stream, courtesy of our Director of Athletic Bands, Dr. David Plack. The virtual race package is an additional $10 (the cost difference between the virtual and in-person race registration ), and must be paid before the October 18th deadline. Having organized the event for the last four years, the Gamma Nu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, national honorary band fraternity, is excited to continue the legacy of the race and to grow the event this year.
