Race Description

Just because winter is here, it does not mean that the trail fun has to end. Sometimes, you just need the motivation to get up off of the couch and out from under the blankets! Kenosha Running Company has the motivation you are looking for:

Winter's 4 Trail Running

The Winter's 4 is four events, one each month during the dreary winter to get you up and out the door.  Entry in the Winter's 4 gives you registration for the following events:

Hateya Trail Run ~ Saturday, December 9th, 2017 Petrifying Springs Park Kenosha, WI   3.5 run/walk/CaniCross   6.4 mile run/CaniCross   10:15 a.m. start CanicCross/10:30 run/walk

Ready for some trail fun?  The Hateya Trail Run will take you on an adventure through the trails of Petrifying Springs County Park.  Weather permitting, we will have an optional river crossing... yes a river crossing in December.  You will encounter some single track, rocks, roots, nasty hills, and possibly snow.  Bonfires, chili, craft beer/soda, "custom" ornaments, and trail stories will top off a December morning.

im Schnee festsitzen ~ Sunday, January 21st, 2018  Bristol Woods Bristol, WI  2 hr Choose Your Own Trail Adventure  3.5 mile CaniCross  10:30 a.m. start

Bristol Woods is the perfect host for the 3rd Annual im Schnee festsitzenTrail Run.  This beautiful park and trails take you through upland forest, wetlands, oak savanna remnants, and prairie areas. This event is the first of two XCThrillogy’s Choose Your Own Trail Adventure. Choose Your Own Trail Adventure allows the participant to decide their distance for the event based on fitness, goals, and Mother Nature (and we ALL know how unkind she can be).  After you are done, enjoy beef stew, soup, hot chocolate and Schnapps as you enjoy the company of your fellow trail enthusiasts.  Please BYO beverage or dessert to share!  Surprise swag, fun awards, and great company make the ending of your im Schnee festsitzen Choose Your Own Trail Adventure memorable.

Kenosha Running Company will donate part of the proceeds of this event to the Pringle Nature Center to help them continue environmental education to the community at large.

Boreas Trail Adventure ~ Sunday, February 18th, 2018  Bristol Woods Bristol, WI 2 hr Choose Your Own Trail Adventure 3.5 mile CaniCross  10:30 a.m. start

Boreas, the Greek God of the North Wind and bringer of Cold Weather, can be a trickster and no one knows this better than those who run! The challenging but fun trails of Bristol Woods are ideal to let Boreas know that he cannot stop you!  This 3 mile looped course will consist of single track trails, and wide groomed paths that lead you on an adventure through this 197 acre park!   The Choose Your Own Trail Adventure event allows the participant to decide their distance for the event based on fitness, goals, and Boreas.  After you are done, enjoy warm food and warmer company around a bonfire. Please BYO beverage or dessert to share!  Entertaining trail stories and some surprises will make this Choose Your Own Trail Adventure one that you will not forget! This event is perfect for all fitness levels and is dog friendly for those not interested in participating in the CaniCross Event.

Kenosha Running Company will donate part of the proceeds of this event to the Pringle Nature Center to help them continue environmental education to the community at large.

Hills Are Alive ~ Sunday, March 11th, 2018  KD Park, Burlington, WI    3.5 mile CaniCross    3.5 mile & 5.0 mile run or walk,  8.5 mile and 10 mile run.  10:15 CaniCross start   10:30 a.m. run/walk start

KD Park is the perfect location for the Hills Are Alive Trail Run and Walk.  This looped course allows you to enjoy the varied landscapes of this former gravel quarry and 39 acre lake.  The beginning of the loops takes you around the lake on wide groomed paths and some picturesque single track. The view is so spectacular that you might be inspired to take a few selfies during your run.  Your circle back is single track through the woods where deer and trail runners play.  The trail is well maintained and not highly technical, so this course is welcoming, but is also a challenge due to the hills.  Once you have completed your loops, you will run back to a St. Patrick's celebration with corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes.  Craft beer/soda and great company make this the perfect kick start to your spring training.  This event is perfect for all fitness levels and is dog friendly for those not interested in participating in the CaniCross event.

Kenosha Running Company will donate part of the proceeds of this event to the Kenosha County Parks Trail Maintenance and Restoration Fund to help maintain and protect the trails that we all use and love.
