Ranch to Ranch Race Description

Bring the whole family! Kids 2k distance added!!!

We want to see the whole family out here having fun, so we're continuing with our 2K course for kids. We're also keeping the price low so everyone can enjoy hopping in for a good time run!

The Kids 2K event will start at 8 am, and stays on Epic Recess ranch. So parents, warm up for your event with your kids while they do their event. Recess knows no age!

TEAMS! TEAMS! TEAMS!

We will have our normal prize categories for 1st, 2nd ,3rd, male and female awards at each distance but we will also be including an extra prize category for teams!

A team will consist of 3 runners, each running a different event length. So one team member will be running the 5k, one team member will run the 10k, and the third team member will run the15k.

When registering you can select to make yourself part of a 3 runner team. Make sure to include the proper info for team name and the names of the participants. You'll only be registering for yourself, but that section will let us know you and your teammates are working together.

The Course

The Ranch to Ranch 5k, 10k, and 15k is an opportunity to run on some private trails between two working ranches in beautiful Japatul Valley. This event is set to be an Epic Recess and great adventure spent on some trail that isn't available to the public at any other time.

You will start at the ranch at 22010 Lyons Valley Rd. and proceed on a trail over to Windfall Ranch, making a loop around the property before heading back towards the start/finish line. Most of the course is single track trail. It's not considered a fast course, but definitely a FUN course. It's technical in some areas, with a need for attention spent on footing when you're not looking at the views.
We will have plenty of aid stations stocked with fun and friendly people along with all the fluids and snacks you've come to enjoy with Epic Recess!
Long sleeve shirts are included with each entry and  will be handed out with bib pickup.
All completion goodies will be handed out at the finish line.

Patches

Epic Recess and Ranch-to-Ranch patches will be available for purchase on race day at the check-in table

An Epic Adventure

dude. signed up for the 15K. Got myself lost (I have been known to do this from time to time. Once I was literally two cities over for a 200 mile relay - we still got third). The next year I left blood on the course in an effort to catch a speeding training partner. Truly a great race, run by the greatest race director. ....and did I mention the cookies!!!!

This IS your early season training race!

I am so excited that there is a professional trail racing presence in East County, Alpine! Taking full advantage of the cleanest air, altitudes and elevation profiles that will strengthen your quads and expand your lung capacity, and highly technical trails that can only be found in the mountains---this 15K was more physically challenging and more fun than any road half marathon! There was a good turnout for all of the race distances, (plenty of friendly competition to push the pace!) it was a perfect day to run, the trails were well marked and volunteers were abundant along the course to point me the right direction and at aid stations. The race sweatshirts are super cozy and a welcome addition to my daily wardrobe. Finish line medals were delicious homemade cookies, place prizes were customized and fun, and the Team Awards were one-of-a-kind handmade sculptures by local artist and race co-director! It was overall very well organized and tons of fun with that local touch you could never find at a big city race. I brought my family along too and we all had a blast. This race is going on my annual race calendar! Thank you so much for putting this together.
