The Dead Man 5k Trail Run

In the 1800's George Simpson, a resident of Trinidad, ran up a neighboring mesa in the effort to escape a band of marauding natives.  This mesa refuge became the site of Mr. Simpson's burial when he passed away years later.  Now know as Simpson's Rest, this geologic formation overlooking Trinidad is the end point of the Dead Man 5k Trail run.  Starting at the Wormhole Trailhead the race route follows the Wormhole Loop trail, then behind the Masonic Cemetery and up to the top of Simpson's Rest, commemorating George Simpson's scamper to safety.   The race will be timed for those registering as runners with 1st, 2nd, and 3^rd place certificates for the men's 39 - and 40+ and women's 39 - and 40+ divisions. Come, Kick off the Halloween season, enjoy Trinidad's fabulous fall weather and soak in the view of Fishers Peak atop Simpson's Rest.  Race proceeds got to support the Trinidad Trails Alliance.
