We're sorry, but we are no longer accepting online registrations for the Rensselaerville Ramble.  You can register in person at the Huyck Preserve Research Station, 284 Pond Hill Road, Rensselaerville, NY on Saturday 6/17 from 7:30-8:30a.  There may not be t-shirts available for runners registering on race day.  Please be aware that parking is limited at the Preserve.  Please try to carpool with other runners and arrive at the station by 8:00a at the very latest so you will have time to park, walk to the station and register.  The race will start promptly at 9am so please arrive on time!    

 

Directions to Eldridge Research Station

From Albany, take Rt 85 West until you reach the T intersection in the village of Rensselaerville.  Turn right and turn right again onto Pond Hill Rd.  The Research Station is on the right side of Pond Hill Rd. in 1.3 miles. 

 

From Middleburgh, take Rte 145 then turn left onto Rt 21, which turns into Rt 10 in Albany County.  Just after Triangle Lake, turn left onto Pond Hill Rd.  The Research Station is on the left side of Pond Hill Rd. in 2.6 miles. 

 

Parking

Parking is limited at the Preserve so please carpool with other runners, if possible and arrive by 8:30a at the latest to ensure that you have time to walk from your car to the Research Station.  Volunteers will be stationed along Pond Hill Road as you arrive to direct you to the appropriate parking areas.  The race will start promptly at 9am and Pond Hill Rd will be closed from 9-9:30a so please arrive on time!   

 

Packet Pickup

Pick up your runner packet (race t-shirt, number, and goody bag) on Friday 6/16 from 4-9p at the Rensselaerville Library (1459 CR 351, Rensselaerville, NY) or on Saturday 6/17 starting at 7:30am at Eldridge Research Station (284 Pond Hill Rd, Rensselaerville, NY)

 

Timing

This will be a timed race.  At the finish line the detachable tag from your race number will be pulled to determine runner order.  Please do not remove the tag until you are at the finish line.

 

Race Rules

-          No dogs or other pets at the race

-          Leave your ear buds at home and enjoy the sounds of nature! 

 

Race Day Registration

There will be race-day registration, however, we may not have t-shirts available in all sizes for runners registering on race day.   If you know people who are planning to register on race day, please encourage them to register online as soon as possible at https://www.raceentry.com/races/rensselaerville-ramble-trail-run-and-walk/2017/register

 

Schedule of Events

7:30-8:45am    Packet pickup and race-day registration

9:00 am           Race start (2, 5, and 8 miles)

10:15am          Kid’s STEAM Story Time by Miss Lee of the Rensselaerville Library

                        Learn how wind can be converted into power; make your own wind turbine! 

11:00am          600m Wood Duck Dash (free for children 10 and under)

11:15am          Awards Ceremony

 

On-course refreshments

The course has 3 water stations, located on the Race Track, Loop 2 and Loop 3 (see course map). All water stations will have water and first aid supplies.  The water station at mile 4 of the 8 mile course will also have sports drink available. 

 

Water stations are located at: 

-          2 mile course: ~1 mile

-          5 mile course: ~1, 2.5, and 4 mile

-          8 mile course: ~1, 2.5, 4, 5.5, and 7 mile. 

 

Post-race refreshments and raffle prizes

Runner refreshments (bagels, PB & J, fruit, Gatorade) will be available on the porch of the Research Station.  Raffle prize winners will also be posted in this area so be sure to check it out!   Raffle prizes include a free kayak rental from Eastern Mountain Sports, baskets filled with homemade soaps from Ladybug Soap, and gift certificates to local businesses.

 

Food and Fun

After the race, be sure to stay for the Huyck Preserve Forest Festival from 10-3p which includes live music by Red Haired Strangers, food by Kuhar Family Farm, beer tastings from Helderberg Brewery, vendors, educational demonstrations and live animal exhibits.  From 3-8p, Lake Myosotis will be open for swimming for any Ramble/Forest Fest participant.  See http://www.huyckpreserve.org/forest-festival--trail-run.html for more details.  The Huyck Preserve also has many other trails to explore including a 3 mile trail around Lake Myosotis and a short hike to the beautiful Rensselaerville Falls.  See the Huyck Preserve trail map http://www.huyckpreserve.org/forest-festival--trail-run.html for trail descriptions.
