Juneau Marathon and Half-Marathon - 2024

Free Entry with

Greetings to all 2024 Juneau Marathon and Half-Marathon registrants!!

Here we are, approx. T-minus 3 months to race day!!  I hope your training is going well!

Here's some info regarding the Friday (July 26) packet pickup at Nugget Alaskan Outfitters (NAO):

We are going to try something different this year.  Pickup for those who have pre-registered (i.e., you) will take place just inside the entry to the store, off to the left.  We have been operating all functions there for the past few years, i.e., pickup, t-shirt exchange, and signup.  It can get a bit congested, so this year those who have pre-registered will do an "enter-and-stage-left" to the spot where you can get your packet and move on the the next challenge!

As we get closer to race day, I will be posting your names and bib numbers.  To keep pickup moving as efficiently as possible, please write down/remember your bib number.  When you come to pick up, all you'll need to do is give your bib number to our wonderful volunteers.  The preregistered packets containing bibs and t-shirts will have been made up.  It should be easy-peasy.

Those who wish to register will navigate to the back of the store to where we used to hold registration and packet pickup - by the shoes.  You've already registered so this does not pertain to you; however, all the t-shirts will be back there, too.  So if your selection is not quite the fit you had hoped or this year's version is not to your liking, you can go to the back and see if an exchange will resolve the issue.  We will have whatever remains of this year's garb, plus leftovers from previous years.  You may purchase extra t-shirts for $15 each.

NAO is located in the Mendenhall Mall, in the Mendenhall Valley.  This is approx. 10 miles from downtown.  There is bus service between downtown and Mendenhall Mall.  Capital Transit is the operator and here is their schedule.  The Valley Transit Center stop is where you would want to get off.  NAO is across the street from the bus stop - you can't miss their marquee (see below).  There are a number of bus routes you could take to get to/from NAO.  One thing to be mindful of with taking the bus - it has become a popular option for cruise ship passengers to get to and from where their ship is docked to access Mendenhall Glacier.  The busses could be crowded, so plan accordingly.

For those who rent vehicles, you can simply Google "Nugget Alaskan Outfitter" and off you go.  Or remember this brief narrative:  from downtown, take Egan Drive approx. 10 miles to the Mendenhall Loop Road traffic signal.  Turn to the right and quickly/safely get into the left turn lane so you can turn left at the nearby Mall Road/Atlin Drive traffic signal.  Turn left and follow Mall Road toward the far end of the mall.  "Close to the end" and off to the left you will see NAO.  If you get to the Riverside Drive traffic signal, you have gone too far.

You have arrived!!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

For the record, as of today we have 111 registrants (39 in the marathon and 72 in the half).
