$32 Raised for Heroes Fund
This year, proceeds from the Heroes 5K will support Morghan Soirez, a dedicated nursing student here at Nicholls State University. She serves on the front lines of care, demonstrating compassion, resilience, and commitment to the well-being of others during some of the most critical moments in our community.
About Heroes Fund
Proceeds from the Heroes Fund go to this year's designated recipient, Morghan Soirez.
Morghan Soirez is a nursing student at Nicholls State University and currently works part-time as a Licensed Practical Nurse at an assisted living facility in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Her passion for healthcare was sparked at age thirteen when she was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes, where the compassion and care she received from nurses inspired her to pursue a career in nursing and serve her community.
Through her experience working in healthcare, Morghan has learned that compassion is just as important as clinical competence. She believes patients may not always remember the treatments they receive, but they will remember how they were made to feel through listening, reassurance, and genuine care.
As she continues her education, Morghan is excited to grow as a nurse and future healthcare leader. She looks forward to expanding her scope of practice, pursuing leadership opportunities, and continuing her education. Her long-term goals include working in pediatric healthcare, potentially at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or becoming a diabetes educator to help others manage and understand their condition.
