ShelterBox Ride Race Description

JOIN THE RIDE

Sat. June 1, 2024

Westview Lodge, 13499 County Route 123, Henderson Harbor, NY

THE RIDES:

The ShelterBox Ride will take place in the town of Henderson. The courses consist of gentle rolling hills along Lake Ontario and through picturesque farmland. All roads are in very good repair, and have low volumes of traffic.

The rides are open-course; riders must adhere to all New York State rules of the road.

OUR GOAL

Our 12th annual Rotary ShelterBox Ride, a bicycle event, it is goal to continue to provide an early season bicycling event that the biking community of Northern New York enthusiastically supports. We will provide an experience that reflects positively on ShelterBoxUSA, the Rotary, our sponsors, our volunteers, and the communities in which the rides take place. Last year we welcomed 153 riders and our goal this year is 200 riders. With your support and the generosity of the community, we have raised over $132,000 for families that have lost everything due to disaster.

THE CELEBRATION

Bill Saiff’s Westview Lodge will provide a delicious spaghetti & meatball lunch for participants from 11:30 am to 1 pm. * non-participants may purchase for $11.00

Who is ShelterBox USA?

Everyone deserves a place to call home. More than 100 million people around the world have lost their homes to disaster and conflict. Everything ShelterBox does is shaped by the four humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality.

Shelter is so much more than just a roof. It’s the foundation for life, families, and communities. It offers protection from harsh weather, privacy, and helps to preserve dignity. It’s a space to heal from trauma.

Emergency shelter can also prevent communities from scattering. This means people stay connected and build resilience together. When you don’t have to keep moving or worry about where to sleep at night, you can think about tomorrow. Items like tents, tarpaulins, tools, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking sets and water filters help to meet the most urgent needs, so you can start to earn a living, send children to school and rebuild your home. Recovery doesn’t happen overnight, but a dry and warm place to sleep, prepare meals and be with your family is the vital first step.
