About Reid Sanders Memorial Foundation - Expedition Yellowstone
When you purchase a West Yellowstone Old Faithful Cycle Tour commemorative cycle jersey, sweatshirt, or cycle tank, ALL proceeds go to the Reid Sanders Foundation/Expedition Yellowstone. Each year, Freeheel & Wheel co-owner, Kelli Hart, along with additional volunteers, bring the West Yellowstone School 6th grade class into Yellowstone National Park for a week--at no cost to the students. This week is part of the National Park Service’s Expedition Yellowstone Program.
Students and chaperone stay at the historic Lamar Buffalo Ranch in the Lamar Valley. Expedition Yellowstone teaches students about the natural and cultural history of Yellowstone National Park, investigates current issues affecting the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and promotes stewardship and preservation in the park and in home communities. Emphasis is on learning through direct experience in the outdoors. Students participate with teachers and parent chaperones in hikes, field investigations, discussions, creative dramatics, and journal writing. The program coordinator works with teachers to tailor an itinerary for the group that best meets their educational needs. (source: https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/expeditionyell.htm)
We here in West Yellowstone feel this program is such a unique experience for our students! Please help us ensure this opportunity continues for future 6th grade classes by donating towards their fundraising goal of $350.00. Thank you!
