About Kids on the Move
Kids on the Move (KOTM) is a 40-year-old nonprofit based in Orem, Utah, dedicated to empowering families and supporting children with special needs, developmental delays, autism, and other disabilities. Our mission, "Empowering Families, Transforming Care, Changing Lives," reflects our core belief that every child has no limits, only endless possibilities to thrive.
Founded in 1984 by two determined mothers, Karen Hahne and Brenda Winegar, who refused to accept limitations for their children with Down syndrome, KOTM began as a grassroots parent support group. From humble beginnings in living rooms and borrowed spaces, we've grown into a comprehensive resource serving thousands of families through on-site and in-home services, including:
- Autism Center (with individualized ABA therapy)
- Early Head Start
- Early Intervention therapies
- Inclusive Preschool and Childcare
- Respite Care
- Family support and care coordination
We advocate for the rights of vulnerable children and caregivers, while providing accessible educational resources that empower parents as their child's best advocates. Together, we build kinder, more inclusive communities.
