Rensselaerville Ramble Trail Run & Walk - 2019

Online registration for the Rensselaerville Ramble is closed.  You can register on race day starting at 7:30a.  Please see below information regarding parking. 

 

Directions to Eldridge Research Station  

From Albany, take Rt 85 West until you reach the T intersection in the village of Rensselaerville.  Turn right and turn right again onto Pond Hill Rd.  The Research Station is on the right side of Pond Hill Rd. in 1.3 miles.   

 From Middleburgh, take Rte 145 then turn left onto Rt 21, which turns into Rt 10 in Albany County.  Just after Triangle Lake, turn left onto Pond Hill Rd.  The Research Station is on the left side of Pond Hill Rd. in 2.6 miles.   

 

Parking 

Parking is limited at the Preserve so please carpool with other runners, if possible and arrive by 8:30a at the latest to ensure that you have time to walk from your car to the Research Station.  Volunteers will be stationed along Pond Hill Road as you arrive to direct you to the appropriate parking areas.  The race will start promptly at 9am and Pond Hill Rd will be closed from 9-9:30a so please arrive on time!    

  

Race Day Registration 

There will be race-day registration, however, you are not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt if you register after June 10.  

 

Schedule of Events 

7:30-8:45am Packet pickup and race-day registration 

9:00 am  Race start (2, 5, and 8 miles) 

9:15 am  Kids Story Time with Judy Crilley, R-ville Library’s Youth Services Coordinator 

9:30 am  Kids can take pictures with our special guest – Bruce the Bear! 

9:45 am  600m Wood Duck Dash (free for children 10 and under)  

10:20 am 2 Mile Awards Ceremony 

10:30 am Free Make Your Own Sundae Bar with Stewart’s Ice Cream 

11:10 am 5 Mile Awards Ceremony 

11:30 am 8 Mile Awards Ceremony 

 

Timing 

This will be a timed race.  At the finish line the detachable tag from your race number will be pulled to determine runner order.  Please do not remove the tag until you are at the finish line.  

 

Race Rules 

  • No dogs or other pets at the race 

  • Leave your ear buds at home and enjoy the sounds of nature!   

 

On-course refreshments 

The course has 3 water stations, located on the Race Track, Loop 2 and Loop 3 (see course map at https://rensselaervilleramble.weebly.com/uploads/1/2/4/2/124299021/ramble_map.pdf). All water stations will have water and first aid supplies.  The water station on Loop 3 (mile 4 of the 8-mile course) will also have sports drink available.    

 

Water stations are located at approximately these distances in the various courses:   

  • 2-mile course: ~1 mile 

  • 5-mile course: ~1, 2.5, and 4 mile 

  • 8-mile course~1, 2.5, 4, 5.5, and 7 mile   

 

MUSIC: On-Course and at the Finish! 

We are excited to announce that there will be musical performances on the race course by two of our very talented library trustees, Joe Frisino and Paul Kelly.  Also, when you return back to the research station, enjoy the amazing music of local R-ville residents Charlie and Annie Campo-Burgess.   

 

Post-race refreshments and raffle prizes 

Runner refreshments (bagels, PB & J, fruit, Gatorade) will be available on the porch of the Research Station.  Satisfy your sweet tooth with a Stewarts Ice Cream Sundae Bar at 10:30am.  Raffle prize winners will also be posted in this area so be sure to check it out!    

 

Raffle prizes include:  

  • Canvas tote bags from Rensselaerville Library 

  • Your choice of a runner themed book 

  • Free games of bowling at Del Lanes

  • Saturday 6/15/19, 10a-2p: Brunch at Kuhar Family Farm Café.  This week’s menu includes Steak Sandwich, Quinoa Salad with Asparagus, Breakfast Sandwiches, Bagel & Lox, coffee and pastries, plus the Burger menu.  See Facebook for more details.   

  • Saturday 6/15/19, 2-8pm: Helderberg Brewery Taproom open 

  • Sunday 6/16/19, 8-11a: Father’s Day Breakfast.  Bring your dad to an all you can eat breakfast at the Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Department, 4990 Delaware Pike, R-ville. 

  • Sunday 6/16/194th Annual Father’s Day Bash 12-4 hosted by Kuhar Family Farm Café and Helderberg Brewery Taproom at 26 CR 353 R-ville.  Delicious food plus beer, wine and cider at the Taproom and Live Music by Big Frank and the Bargain Bingers.  Bring a lawn chair/blanket and cash.
