1. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in a running or walking event involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:
- Falls, slips, trips, or collisions;
- Physical exertion and fatigue;
- Weather-related conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, or lightning;
- Uneven terrain, road hazards, traffic, and natural obstacles;
- Encounters with domestic or wild animals, including but not limited to dogs, wildlife, livestock, or other animals that may bite, scratch, chase, attack, interfere with participants, or otherwise cause injury;
- Animal waste or other naturally occurring conditions on the course, including urine, feces, mud, insects, or allergens that may create hazardous or unsanitary conditions;
- Actions or negligence of other participants, spectators, volunteers, or third parties;
- Medical conditions that may arise during participation.
I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks, known and unknown, associated with participation in the Event.
2. Release and Waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Jeremy Ranch 5K organizers, sponsors, volunteers, affiliates, property owners, event staff, and any associated individuals or entities (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, damages, losses, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties.
3. Medical Treatment Authorization
I authorize Event personnel and emergency medical providers to obtain or provide medical treatment deemed reasonably necessary in the event of injury, illness, or emergency during the Event. I understand that I am solely responsible for any costs associated with such medical treatment.
4. Physical Condition
I certify that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained to participate in the Event. I have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional.
5. Rules and Conduct
I agree to follow all Event rules, instructions, and safety guidelines. I understand that the Event organizers reserve the right to remove any participant whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, or otherwise inappropriate.
6. Photo and Media Release
I grant permission to the Event organizers and sponsors to use photographs, video recordings, or other media of me taken during the Event for promotional, marketing, or other lawful purposes without compensation.
7. Minor Participants
If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign below. The parent or guardian agrees to all terms of this waiver on behalf of the minor participant.
8. Severability
If any provision of this waiver is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
9. Governing Law
This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah.
