At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado-Pikes Peak, we inspire, ignite and empower potential by matching young people with volunteer adult mentors. Together we envision a world where every young person can achieve their biggest possible future
Mission Statement - BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF COLORADO PROVIDES CHILDREN FACING ADVERSITY WITH STRONG AND ENDURING, PROFESSIONALLY SUPPORTED ONE-TO-ONE RELATIONSHIPS THAT CHANGE THEIR LIVES FOR THE BETTER, FOREVER.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado has supported high-quality mentoring relationships between children and adult volunteers for 101 years, through our core programs:
Community Based Mentoring, which matches 9- to 13-year-old children with a Big Brother or Big Sister;
Sports Buddies, which develops one-to-one mentoring friendships between an adult and child through participatory and spectator sporting events, designed to deepen mentoring relationships while supporting self-confidence, goal setting, collaboration, skill development, and healthy lifestyles;
mentor2.0, which matches students from participating schools with college-educated mentors and provides them with the support and guidance they need to graduate high school and succeed in college and the workforce;
Military Mentoring, in which mentors from the community are matched with children who have a deployed military parent, active duty parent or a parent killed in action; and
Bigs with Badges, which pairs youth facing adversity with law enforcement officers & other first responders, with the aim of improving relationships between law enforcement officers and the people they protect in an effort to ease the tension felt by many communities today.
