About Logan's Love - Logan Speaks
Logan’s Story of Love
Logan Ruiz was a cherished, loving, and sweet 10-year-old boy with a pure heart. He captured the love of everyone that came in contact with him. Logan’s smiles and giggles were infectious and most prominent when doing his favorite things: jumping super high on the trampoline, swimming, playing with bubbles, foam, sea creatures, & puzzles, reading books (especially textured books!) and eating cheeseburgers. Music, specifically Baby Shark, would get him happily moving about the room. Logan regularly attended church services with his family at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where he also became well known and loved. Logan was Autistic and mostly non-speaking, but used gestures, facial expression, body language, and a communication device to get his message across to family, teachers, and therapists.
On August 27, 2022, Logan eloped from his home, a fortress with multiple layers of security in place to keep him safe. Tragically within just a few short minutes, an accident occurred involving a train and his precious little body was unable to sustain the injuries. Following Logan’s heart-breaking passing, an outpouring of love and support surrounded Nicole, Logan’s mother, and his immediate family. Nicole quickly knew that despite her devastating loss, she wanted to give back to the Autism community to honor her precious Angel.
Nicole along with a small handful of family, friends, members of the Church and community formed Logan’s Love – Logan Speaks in 2023 to keep Logan’s memory eternal, and to support families like hers. What kind of families? Families that know about elopement all too well, that struggle to find events that the whole family can enjoy, that are constantly adjusting to keep everyone safe. Families trying to find balance between too much and not enough. Logan’s love, and our love for Logan permeates through everything we do. Come along on this journey that we never imagined.
