2016 Addict II Athlete Virtual Run.
In years past Team Addict II Athlete has chosen a city in Utah that has had an increase in addiction, overdoses and in need of community awareness. This year we have seen a rise in all our communities concerning overdose deaths. Not only here in our home state but across the nation.
This year AIIA wants to carry the message across the United States, to the Main Streets of every community, in the home towns and community we have yet to reach. We know addiction knows no boundary and we wish to enlist runners and walkers alike to carry the message of awareness, support and understanding to every household and city that has been affected by addiction.
Team Addict II Athlete invites you to register and become part of our Team. To assist us in Turning the Mess into a Message and helping your community heal from the ugly grips of addiction. We envision Athletes all over the country to step into the light and take back their streets and communities.
We see participants adding their home town Main Street to a section of their recovery run to become a “Running Billboard” for the community at large to become aware and alert to the real overdose epidemic that is becoming too commonplace. We are loosing friends, family and loved ones to a substance that can be stopped.
To all those who have lost a friend or family member to addiction we ask you to become a “Proxy Runner” in honor and in respect to a life cut short from addiction. To use your legs to turn the mess into a message. We invite those in recovery, those who have established sobriety and the friends and family of anyone who struggle with addiction to unit and serve by running with a reason.
Throughout the month of September (National Recovery Month) you choose the time, distance, date and route your run will take. Run inside, outside, on a trail, on a treadmill. You have the opportunity to invite others to join you and experience the power and unity of Team AIIA.
All registered runners who choose to will receive the 1st Official Addict II Athlete finisher medal and social media invitations. We will use the hashtag: #AIIARecoveryRun2016 for everyone participating to load photos of their experience to social media to link the Nation, to unify each runner and to see the magnitude of this problem.
This is a call for action. A call to Erase the negative attitude, broken hearts and stereotypes and Replace it with Strength, Honor, Unity and Love. Register today and join Team Addict II Athlete.
